2014 FireZone Fire Safety Contest - "Don’t Hide. Go Outside.”
October is National Fire Prevention Month! The FireZone invites students to use their artistic ability to help spread fire prevention messages. This contest is open to all Chicago area students in grades K-4. Students are asked to create a poster that best represents this year’s theme- “Don’t Hide. Go Outside.”
This year’s grand prize winning poster will be printed on the side of a real fire truck, which will be brought to the winning school to share with all students, parents, teachers and staff. Winning posters for each grade will be also displayed at “Fire Safety Fun Day” on Sunday, October 26th at the FireZone in Schaumburg. Additionally, every contest participant will receive a FREE FireZone Drop-In Activity Pass ($10 value). Contest winners in each grade level will be also presented with a Northwest Suburban Prize Pack.
All posters must be delivered to the FireZone, 1100 National Pkwy, Schaumburg, IL 60173 no later than 4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2014. Posters may be mailed or hand-delivered.
Winning students, or their teachers, will be notified by October 23rd.
Information provided on the back of each poster should include:
Name of student
Grade and age of Student
Name of School
Classroom or Teachers name
School address, phone number and contact email
Poster Guidelines
-Each poster must contain a message (or theme) about Fire Safety or Fire Prevention
-Media may include: charcoal, colored pencils, ink, acrylic, oil, watercolor, crayons, No
collages or computer graphics will be accepted. Artwork must be on Tag board, Poster
board, Card board, or Paper only. No “add-on” items such as mirrors, glass, glitter,
matches, or any other materials affixed will be accepted.
-The judging criteria are: Clarity and readability of work, Presentation of the theme, Neatness, Creativity, Originality, and Boldness of Design.
-All entries become the property of the FireZone and will not be returned.
